How your account is protected

  • ๐Ÿ”’ Encrypted passwords โ€” Stored using industry-standard hashing (bcrypt). We can't see your password.
  • ๐Ÿ” SSL encryption โ€” All data transmitted to/from our servers uses 256-bit SSL.
  • ๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ Database protection โ€” Row-level access controls ensure you can only see your own data.
  • ๐Ÿ“ง Security notifications โ€” Emails when password is changed, email is updated, or phone is changed.
  • ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡บ Data hosted in Australia โ€” Subject to Australian Privacy Act 1988.

Tips for staying safe

  • Use a unique, strong password (8+ characters, mix of letters/numbers/symbols)
  • Don't share your password with anyone
  • Log out of shared devices
  • If you suspect unauthorised access, change your password immediately

Privacy & Data

We collect only what we need to run the platform. We don't sell your data to third parties. Read the full Privacy Policy for details.

What we collect

  • Account info (name, email, phone, address)
  • Payment info (handled by Stripe, never stored by us)
  • Listing content (vehicles, marketplace items, jobs)
  • Communication between buyers and sellers (for moderation)
  • Site usage data (page views, clicks โ€” for analytics)

What we DON'T do

  • โŒ Sell your data to advertisers
  • โŒ Share your contact info with third parties
  • โŒ Use your photos for marketing without permission
  • โŒ Track you across other websites

Payments & Fraud Protection

  • All transactions on Members Warehouse are directly between buyer and seller
  • We don't hold escrow or facilitate payments between users (for vehicles/marketplace)
  • Subscription/listing payments are handled by Stripe (PCI DSS Level 1)
  • Card data never touches our servers
  • Stripe handles fraud detection on all our transactions

Reporting Issues

If something goes wrong, report it. We take all reports seriously.

Types of issues you can report

  • ๐Ÿšฉ Suspected scams โ€” Sellers asking for unusual payment, dodgy buyers
  • ๐Ÿ‘ค Fake listings โ€” Stock photos, prices too good to be true
  • ๐Ÿ”’ Account compromise โ€” Someone else accessing your account
  • ๐Ÿ’ฌ Harassment โ€” Aggressive messages, threats
  • โš–๏ธ Illegal items โ€” Counterfeit goods, stolen items, banned products
  • ๐Ÿ› Technical issues โ€” Bugs, broken pages, login problems

How to report

  1. Email admin@memberswarehouse.com.au
  2. Include: the listing URL or user name, screenshots if possible, what happened
  3. We respond within 2 business days
  4. For urgent safety issues, mark "URGENT" in the subject line

Disputes Between Users

โš ๏ธ Important to understand Members Warehouse is a platform, not a party to transactions. We don't hold money, we don't process payments between users, and we don't arbitrate disputes between buyers and sellers.

What we CAN do

  • Investigate scam complaints and ban bad actors
  • Remove fraudulent listings
  • Provide records of communication between users (for legal proceedings)
  • Offer guidance on resolution

What we CAN'T do

  • Force a refund between users
  • Recover funds that have been transferred
  • Mediate disagreements about quality or condition
  • Replace legal action where required

For disputes involving significant money, consider:

  • Your state's consumer affairs office (Consumer Affairs Victoria, Fair Trading NSW, etc.)
  • Small Claims Tribunal / VCAT / NCAT
  • Legal advice from a solicitor

Insurance

Members Warehouse maintains business insurance including cyber liability and professional indemnity cover. This protects our business, but doesn't insure users' personal transactions.
